The Lunenburg Rotary Club recently added a service project of providing a basketball court at the local park. Many residents have supported the Rotary Club in their other fundraising efforts by purchasing stews, barbeque or even the Lunenburg Rotary Birthday Calendar.
Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.3 million business, professional and community leaders. There are 33,000-plus Rotary Clubs in more than 200 countries.
Members of Rotary Clubs, known as Rotarians, provide humanitarian service. Rotary Club membership represents a cross section of the community’s business and professional men and women and opens to all cultures, races and creeds.
The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world. The Rotary’s motto is, “Service above self.”
The Lunenburg Rotary Club meets every Tuesday from noon until 1 p.m. The first Tuesday of every month, they meet at Mildred’s Meals in Kenbridge and the other Tuesdays they meet at Uptown Coffee Café in Victoria. Contact any Lunenburg Rotarian if you would like to attend as a guest.
