American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and American Legion Boys State are the premier programs for teaching how government works while developing leadership skills and an appreciation for the rights as a citizen. Fuqua School’s representatives to Virginia Boys State are Brad Davis and Curtis Rogers, with alternates Robert Burns and Nicholas Davis. The 74th session of Virginia Boys State will be held this summer at Radford University. The students are first nominated by the Fuqua faculty, then chosen through an interview process conducted by the local American Legion and evaluated based on their leadership abilities, interest in government, service to their school and community and academics. Fuqua School juniors selected to attend Virginia Boys State are, from left, Robert Burns, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Burns of Burkeville; Nicholas Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Davis of Buckingham; Brad Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Davis of Victoria; and Curtis Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rogers of Powhatan.
