A Food-Based Business Workshop titled “Understanding the Science & Regulation” will be held on May 19, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at Southern Piedmont AREC, located at 2375 Darvills Road in Blackstone.

The workshop will focus on the “Science of Food-Based Business” to help participants decide how to proceed with the development of their food-based business. While there are many factors to consider when considering a food-based business, understanding the food science and regulations is often the deciding factor for entrepreneurs deciding whether their concept is viable.

A minimum of 15 participants are required for the workshop to be held. Contact the Nottoway County Extension Office at (434) 645-9315 to register, or email Eric Bowen, area food safety agent, at bowen@vt.edu for additional information.

Register by May 12.
