The hours of Rocky Mill Road Convenience Center have changed, with the center opened shorter hours on Thursday and now opening Friday.

The center is now open on Thursday from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. and on Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. It had been open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and closed Friday.

The change in hours was prompted by lagging use on Thursday and by request from the public for it to be open on Friday, said Beverley Hawthorne, the county’s economic and community development director.

The location opened in mid-December and is the fifth convenience center in the county.

The site is manned part time, and recycling is available. The county is looking for property to establish collection sites east of State Route 138 between Brickland Road and St. John’s Church Road; another along Oral Oaks in the vicinity of Brickland Road is sort of in place.
