A single-vehicle crash in the 4100 block of Route 40 in Lunenburg County resulted in the death of a 59-year-old Keysville man Tuesday.
According to Virginia State Police Coordinator Susan Rowland, John H. Taylor was traveling westbound on Route 40 west of Route 681 in a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he lost control of the vehicle.
“The SUV ran off the right side of the road, struck multiple mailboxes then overturned, ejecting the driver,” Rowland said. “The SUV struck a fence before coming to rest.”
Rowland said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. State Trooper J.T. McGhee was called to the crash at approximately 10:12 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
