Central High School’s varsity girls basketball team has been facing some stiff challenges in the James River District, particularly through its last four games.
The Lady Chargers fell 45-23 at home on Tuesday to Buckingham County High School. On Friday, Goochland High School dealt visiting Central a 63-7 loss. Host Nottoway High School won 42-12 on Jan. 10, and the Lady Chargers opened their play in 2018 with a 53-15 road loss against Prince Edward County High School.
Central Head Coach Scott Wilson said his team has been struggling against pressure defensive schemes presented by opponents but that his young players are growing. The Lady Chargers featured three freshmen in the starting lineup.
Central (0-9) visits William Campbell High School on Thursday at 7 p.m.
