The 2017-18 seasons for Central High School’s junior varsity girls and boys basketball teams concluded with losses to Nottoway High School’s junior varsity squads on Feb. 7.
The Lady Chargers’ 48-29 home loss to the Lady Cougars was the end of a promising season in which the Central girls went 7-10, as listed on the James River District (JRD) website. They had a particularly strong stretch in late January when they went on a three-game winning streak, topping host Bluestone 36-20 on Jan. 23, routing visiting William Campbell 35-8 the next day and defeating visiting Randolph-Henry 35-26 on Jan. 26.
The Chargers’ 50-15 road loss to the Cougars ended a difficult season for the young Central boys squad. The team went 0-15, according to the JRD site.
