Central High School’s varsity boys and girls basketball teams closed their 2017-18 regular season schedules with losses to Nottoway, but they are preparing now for the fresh opportunity presented by the Region 1B tournament.
After building momentum late in the season, the Chargers enter regional play with a 5-13 record. They hold the No. 7 seed and will visit No. 2 Riverheads on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Chargers Head Coach Mike McGrath said his focus right now in terms of preparing the team for postseason play is “improving in all areas of our game.”
With the announcement of all-district accolades, L.J. Watson made the first team, Darryl Jones made the second team and Ethan Hoover received honorable mention.
“All deserved their recognition for the season,” McGrath said.
The Lady Chargers have a 1-16 record. They hold the No. 8 seed in regional play and will visit No. 1 Altavista on Monday at 6 p.m.
“I would like to see us play four solid quarters and of course, come away with a win on the road,” Lady Chargers Head Coach Scott Wilson said.
