Book signing event in Lunenburg

The Lunenburg County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Lunenburg County Public Libraries, invite the public to a book signing for Shirley Robertson Lee on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in the gymnatorium at Central High School of Lunenburg in Victoria. Lee is author of a carefully researched and highly anticipated book,” Trails and Trailblazers: Public Education and School Desegregation in Lunenburg County, Virginia 1870-1970.” She is a native of Lunenburg County and graduated in 1970 from Central High School’s first fully integrated graduating class.

There will also be a display in the school cafeteria of Lee’s impressive collection of photographs of old schools in the county and other education-related materials that she has generously donated to the Lunenburg County Historical Society.
Lee is a veteran educator who has worked in the Brunswick County and the Prince Edward County Public Schools, serving as elementary assistant principal in Prince Edward prior to her retirement in 2008 with 30 years of experience. She currently works as coordinator of Longwood University’s Speech, Hearing and Learning Services tutoring program. Lee is a life member of the Lunenburg County Historical Society and a member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honorary organization for women educators.
