Kenston Forest School’s middle school girls basketball team has endured a rough start to its 2018-19 season, but the young Lady Kavaliers should be strongly motivated entering the 2019 portion of their schedule after nearly tasting victory in its final game of 2018.
The team ended the year at 0-4 after falling to visiting Fuqua School on Dec. 4, but it was the Lady Kavs’ closest game yet, with a final score of 18-17.
“We lost a really tough game to Fuqua where we missed 11 free throws in the fourth quarter and lost by one,” Kenston Forest Head Coach Ben Green said.
In a Nov. 30 home game, Kenston Forest lost 26-7 to Greenbrier Middle School. The day prior, the host Lady Kavs lost 16-12 to Temple Christian School, and on Nov. 27, host Isle of Wight Academy topped Kenston Forest 25-15.
The leading scorer for the Lady Kavaliers this season is eighth-grader Hanna Mahaney.
