Central High School’s varsity boys basketball team is still looking for its first win after going 0-2 last week, but forward progress is being made.
The Chargers fell 63-37 to visiting Amelia County High School on Friday.
“While we improved in some areas, we still hurt ourselves with some careless mistakes, but we are growing each week,” Central Head Coach Mike McGrath said.
Junior Darien Jones led the team with 13 points, sophomore Tyler McGrath added 10 and senior Nehemiah Wood had six.
On Jan. 2, the Chargers lost 63-26 to host Prince Edward County High School.
“We played decent ball for the first 12 minutes of the game and then grew frustrated and made huge mistakes,” Coach McGrath said. “It was not our best effort in the second half.”
Central (0-5) visits Nottoway High School on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
