The Kenbridge Town Council voted to approve applying for a grant that would aid the town in purchasing a new police vehicle during the council’s meeting Jan. 15.
The decision was made following a public hearing. No one spoke during the hearing, Kenbridge Town Manager Robyn Fowler confirmed.
The town would apply for a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development (RD) program.
Fowler said Jan. 22 that the town would move forward with the application once the RD program reopened following the partial government shutdown that began Dec. 22.
The Town of Victoria held a similar public hearing Dec. 11 for a police vehicle purchase. The council is set to file an application for grant funding from the USDA RD program. The funding would go toward purchasing a Dodge Charger police vehicle.
