The Patriot’s Pen competition is open to students in grades sixth through eighth. This year students were asked to reflect on the statement, “Why I Honor the American Flag.” in a 300-400 word essay. All of the Kenston Forest School (KFS) sixth, seventh and eighth-graders participated in the competition. Local level winners pictured are, from left, First place winning $150, Sadie Henshaw, seventh-grader and daughter of Heath and Kristin Henshaw of Sutherland; Second place winning $100, Reid Thomas, sixth-grader and son of Will and Jayne Thomas of Crewe; and Third place winning $75, Mary Katelyn Hite, sixth-grader and daughter of John and Kristin Hite of Kenbridge.
