Lunenburg Middle School’s (LMS) softball team started its regular season with a win at Central Middle School in Charlotte County.
The Blue Devils won 8-7 in nine innings with two homers hit by LMS. Alyssa Inzeo and Tristan Buchanan hit their first homers for the season. Starting pitcher Kelsey Marshall pitching to Ellie Anderson set the pace for the Blue Devils. Great defense would keep the Bobcats from scoring at will. The infield and the outfield made key plays throughout the game.
The late innings pitched by Kennedy Moody kept the game all tied up.
Inzeo had a two-run dinger, and Buchanan had a three-run blast to keep LMS in the game.
The team looks forward to a great season with lots of highlights.
The 2019 roster features five eighth-graders, fourth seventh-graders and plenty of new talent with five sixth-graders. Head Coach Kaitlyn Matthews leads the way.
