Minor injuries after vehicle overturns

The driver in a single-vehicle accident in which the vehicle overturned was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to a release from Virginia State Police, Trooper W. Dean responded to a crash in Lunenburg County on Thursday at 11:32 p.m. on Route 635 Oral Oaks Road, less than a mile north of Route 643, New Grove Road.

Police said a 2007 Pontiac Solstice was traveling north on Route 635 when it ran off the right side of the highway.

“The vehicle struck a utility pole and then overturned onto its roof,” the release from VSP cited.

The driver involved in the accident, a 17-year-old male from Blackstone, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.

The driver was charged with failure to maintain control of the vehicle.
