This year’s theme for the annual Lunenburg County Historical Society’s (LCHS) photography contest is “Reflections of Lunenburg’s Yesterday.” Enter a striking photograph that reflects any historic aspect of Lunenburg County.

Contest rules are as follows: The image must have been photographed in Lunenburg County within 12 months ending Sept. 14, 2019. Amateur photographers of any age are eligible to enter the contest. There is no entrance fee. Contestants do not have to be Lunenburg residents. Only one entry per contestant is allowed. Submit one unframed 5” x 7” print (either black and white or full color) mounted without glass covering on a mat, cardboard or poster board. Photo must be accompanied by a fully completed copy of the contest entry form which is available at Lunenburg public libraries. If you cannot get to either library, you may email woodpark1@earthlink.net to receive a digital copy of the form. Write LCHS PHOTO CONTEST in the subject line of your email.

The entry must be received at one of the following locations during business hours on or before the deadline of Sept. 14:

• Ripberger Public Library, 117 S. Broad St., Kenbridge, VA 23944, (434) 676-3456;

• Victoria Public Library, 1417 Seventh St., Victoria, VA 23974, (434) 696-3416.

Professionally trained photographers will judge the entries based on creativity, quality, and originality as relevant to the stated theme. Winners in the two categories (color; black and white) will be announced in October. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. Original digital image or negative must be available to judges on request. The judges may declare no winners in a category. Entries will not be returned.
