Mary Ann Brown was born March 19, 1942 to Frank and Betty H. Marshall Gunter in Virginia.

Mary received her early education in the Lunenburg County School System.

Mary Ann worshiped with Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia.

She worked as a sewing machine operator at M&B Head-Ware in Richmond, Virginia until her retirement.

She departed this life on April 12, 2020 at Manor Care Health Services in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles H. Gunter; sisters, Bernice Grey, Gloria Bradley, Emma Lambert-Scott and Thelma Wyatt.

She is survived by her children, Donald E. Brown and Michelle J. Johnson; grandchildren, William D. Thrower, Jr., Kimberly N. McNeil-Storrs (Victor), Darren Brown and Essence Hargrove; sisters, Margaret Williams and Delores Gunter; brother, Willie Hite; sister’s-in-law, Ethel Rudd Gunter and Diane Brown. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside services were held Friday, April 17 at Falls Road Cemetery, Kenbridge, with the Rev. Dr. Irene B. Allen providing words of comfort.

S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home served the family.
