Libraries offer curbside pickup
As Virginia begins re-opening in phases, the Lunenburg County Public Library System is launching curbside service, as well as continued Wi-Fi access outside of the buildings, to ensure library patrons and staff stay healthy as they continue reading and start summer.
Libraries across the country have been striving to implement the best practices for welcoming patrons back to the libraries. Curbside pickup of books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines has become the most common form of circulating materials to the public.
Public libraries in Victoria and Kenbridge have begun offering curbside pickup by appointment. Library patrons should reserve materials in advance by using the library’s online catalog or by calling library staff between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. Reserved materials will be checked out and placed in a new, clean bag labeled with the patron’s name. At the scheduled time of pickup, the bag will be placed in a specified location, accessible to the public.
Lunenburg County Public Libraries will re-open to the public at a future date, to be announced. Library materials can be returned anytime in the library’s book returns.
The library’s online catalog is available at the library’s website, lunenburglibraries.org. The plans for further re-openings will be posted on the library’s social media page. Questions and concerns should be directed to the Lunenburg Library Director, J.B. Crenshaw at (434) 676-3416 or by emailing email@example.com.
