Eva Moon Betit, 97 of Victoria, went to be with her Lord and joined her family in Heaven on April 23, two months shy of her 98th birthday. She was born on June 25, 1925, in Pittstown, New York. Eva is the adopted daughter of the late William and Hazel (Noyes) Moon. She attended grade school in North Bennington, Vermont and graduated from Williamstown High School in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Eva worked at various sewing factories in Bennington, Vermont. She was employed at Union Carbide Corporation (Eveready) for almost 28 years until she retired on Feb. 1, 1985. She missed being in the workforce, so she volunteered at Southwestern VT Medical Center for 22 years, and simultaneously worked there 14 years in the coffee shop and cafeteria.
In 2005, Eva moved to Virginia Beach to be near her son, Ernie. She volunteered at the Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital for three years. In 2013, she moved to Victoria to live near her daughter, Linda.
Eva was a member of Victoria Christian Church. Eva traveled to many countries, at age 75, she parasailed in Mexico. She also enjoyed crocheting, designing her own baby blankets, reading and word searches, and spending time with her family and friends.
Eva married the late Francis Raymond Betit on Feb. 16, 1946.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Stark, Francine Percey (Harry) and Linda Buck (Robert); her son, Ernest Betit and two sons-in-law, Gerald VanNess and Steve Main. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Clarence Betit (Marion). Eva is blessed to have 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 17 great, great grandchildren.
Besides her Husband, Eva was predeceased by her birth parents, Eva Kramer Russell and Frank E. Kramer; a son, Steven Moon; daughters, Patricia VanNess, Doreen Betit and Kathryn Main; grandson, Robbie Wieder; son-in-law, John Stark; as well as two brothers and two sisters.
A celebration of life service for Eva Betit will be at the Victoria Christian Church on Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m., in Victoria. Her final resting place will be in Bennington, Vermont.
