“One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth for ever.” Ecclesiastes 1:4.
One day, my friend Anna and I were shopping when I spotted a dress with oversized sleeves and shoulder pads. We wore this as children, and now the old styles are returning. We should have kept our old clothes, and we would have been in style. We continued, and we saw laced-up boots.
Next, we went to look at jeans. Do you remember when we cried when we went to school with patches, and today, we are paying to have holes in our clothes? Times have changed.
Anna said, “she was talking to her children about her childhood and they wanted to know the clothing style in the 1940’s. She searched the internet and found some clothes from the forties. Jackets, blouses, sweaters, and skirts were short and close-fitting, all unadorned and with the requisite sharp shoulder pads. Long sleeves were out, and dresses were casual. Her children cried we are wearing that; our skirts are short and close-fitting. Yes, styles come and go. In the next generation, we may be wearing patches again.”
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done; and there is no new thing under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9
Is there anything where of it may be said, “See, this is new? It hath been already of old time, which was before us. Ecclesiastes 1:10
Isn’t it wonderful that Jesus has allowed us to see the many changes returning? Many styles may come and go, but the Word of Jesus remain forever. Thank You, Jesus, for Your love and understanding of Your children.
Be blessed in Jesus’ name.
