The Lunenburg-Nottoway Retired Teachers Association (LNRTA) met on Thursday, July 18 at Victoria Public Library. This year the unit received four student applications indicating an interest in pursuing teaching as a career and each applicant was awarded a LNRTA scholarship.

The Nottoway recipient was Madison Redfern, a graduate of Nottoway High School. Redfern plans to attend Longwood University and major in Special Education.

Lunenburg, meanwhile, had three recipients from Central High School. Claire Bailey plans to attend Radford University and major in Art Education. Samiyah Cook plans to attend Virginia State University and major in Business Administration and Finance. Katherine C. Casoni plans to attend Christopher Newport University and major in Choral Music Education. Also, LNRTA contributed to the Southside Virginia Community College Scholarship Foundation Fund. The unit continues to be active and productive in the community.
