Lisa Tucker, 50, has retired after 31 years of service to the Kenbridge Post Office.

“I enjoyed it,” she said. “I loved my customers. It was a good career and I’m happy to be retired.”

Tucker said she’s back on her family farm now that she’s retired and plans to spend time with her family working on the farm and going on vacations.

Tucker and her husband are beef cattle farmers.

“It helped me provide and have a good living and yeah, I’m just happy to have the ability to get back to work and be on my farm again,” Tucker said.

Kenbridge Post Office Postmaster Chip Watson said Tucker spent her career on the same route.

“She was very dependable,” he said. “She was always at work when she was supposed to be at work. Dependability was her best factor; I never had a bit of problem with her carrying mail.”

Watson said everyone on her route seemed to enjoy Tucker and she created a pleasant atmosphere to work in.

According to Watson, Tucker spent her whole career carrying mail along the same route, Rural Route 1, in Kenbridge.

“(They’re a) great group of people to work with. (I) really loved it,” Tucker said.
