Oct. 31 will both mark the Town of Kenbridge’s fifth year hosting its Trunk or Treat event and the Town of Victoria’s inaugural Trunk or Treat.

Children in costumes will have a chance to celebrate the events at Kenbridge’s Main Street — where the fifth and sixth streets will be blocked off from traffic — or at the Victoria Railroad Park.

Kenbridge Trunk or Treat Organizer Aileen Moorman said past Trunk-or-Treating events have had good attendance, and she and others are gearing up for positive turnouts this year as well.

“We have a good turnout,” Moorman said. “We have a lot of kids. We have kids from both of the

schools, and we have a lot of participants as well. The people enjoy it.”

Moorman said the location and event is a safer alternative for children who may cross the street during Trick-or-Treating.

Kenbridge’s Trunk or Treat will start at 6 p.m.

Victoria’s inaugural Trunk or Treat will take place Oct. 31 at Victoria Railroad Park from 5-7 p.m.

Participants can also donate items at a collection box for the area Salvation Army.

Town Manager Rodney Newton said this is the first year the Town has sponsored the program, and said the event provides a safe and fun alternative to Trick-or-Treating.

The idea to host a Trunk or Treat event had previously been discussed during a November 2015 Town Council meeting, according to a previous Dispatch report.

Newton said several volunteers have pooled resources for the Tuesday event.

“The town of Victoria is encouraging all to take part in this event to provide a safe environment for the children of the community,” Newton said.
