The Victoria Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9954 will celebrate Veterans Day by welcoming members of the community and bringing greater awareness to the addition to its building Saturday.
According to Post Commander Claude Tomlinson, the event is open to the public and participants can enjoy hot dogs, beverages and look around the addition to the building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Come share a hot dog, chips and a soft drink, and time with friends,” Tomlinson said.
Tomlinson said the building addition was completed in July and currently serves as the location for the VFW Auxiliary meetings.
“There’s so many people who have never seen the new addition
we added on to the VFW,” Tomlinson said, and added the room can be rented for different events.
Tomlinson said the address for the Post is 1000 Marshall Ave. He noted that the once participants reach a nearby cemetery to follow signs leading to the VFW Post until they reach the building.
Tomlinson noted that members of the VFW Post will also hold a Veterans Day presentation for students at Victoria Elementary School Thursday at 10 a.m.
