Love

A friend of mine use to say that love is a funny little thing that runs around your heart and makes you crazy. Sometimes love makes you so happy you feel like bursting and other times it makes you so mad you want to scream. But all in all what is the world without love?

I met my husband, Charles at school in NYC. He was always the last person to enter the classroom and once he got there he would stand in the door and laugh. I couldn’t understand why he was laughing but I was intrigued, all the girls were. He was always smart and even though he never brought his books to class, he was the one that always went to the front board and solved whatever equation the teacher laid out for us.

One night Charles asked to walk me home and I said yes. Our first date was at the Apollo Theater and James Brown was performing that night. Although the first date was awkward, it set in motion my feelings of love for him. Even today I still remember how special I felt when he would walk me home, when we took long walks in the park, and our first kiss. My husbands favorite saying is “love expresses many of things.”

I found this poem on Pinterest:

Love is when two people touch each other’s soul.

Love is honesty and trust.

Love is helping one another.

Love is mutual respect.

Love means that differences can be worked out.

Love is reaching your dreams together.

Love is a connection of two hearts.

Yours and mine!
