Wanda Morrison, of Kenbridge, was elected to the Lunenburg County Planning Commission during Thursday’s Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors meeting.
Members of the board began to search for a representative to elect from the Browns Store District after Tommy Hite, the former district representative on the commission, had resigned after struggling with health issues, County Administrator Tracy Gee said.
Patricia Harper-Tunley, who attended Thursday’s meeting, noted that members of the public had nominated Morrison during an earlier meeting.
Morrison, who attended Thursday’s meeting, accepted the position.
Morrison was a Browns Store District candidate for the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors during November’s election, along with Mike Hankins.
Helping fill out the commission, members of the board re-elected District Five Representative Brenda Jennings, District One Representative Jay Dayton and District Seven Representative Buck Tharpe. In a unanimous vote, members of the board voted in favor of the changes.
Morrison will begin as the planning commission’s Browns Store District representative in January.
