The volleyball career of Kenston Forest School senior standout Peyton Clary will continue at the college level.

On Friday, she formalized her decision to play for the Shenandoah University Hornets during a signing ceremony.

“I have been working ever since I’ve started volleyball towards this dream of playing in college,” Clary said, “and it was just a dream for a long time, and being able to solidify that in writing was a dream come true, and I just can’t explain in words how much it meant to me. I’m just so excited to have the opportunity to play for Shenandoah.”

Clary started playing volleyball in the sixth grade at Kenston Forest, and this past season, she helped the varsity team advance as far as the state quarterfinals. She was named first team all-state and conference Player of the Year, among other accolades.

Additionally, “I have done club and travel volleyball with Roger Poythress in South Hill,” Clary said. “He has been a major part of my volleyball success, and I owe him a lot.”

She also credited her father, Chris Clary, and Lady Kavaliers Head Coach Jannon Coley for her success thanks to their encouragement.

Peyton’s mother, Tia Clary, speaking on behalf of herself and Chris, said, “Once somebody’s put that much time in and effort, to see that it does finally pay off is great, and naturally, we’ve had a ball watching her play and grow, and to be able to go and experience this at the collegiate level is going to be not only an adventure for her but for us as her parents too.”
