Independence Day is Wednesday, and the Town of Kenbridge will host the holiday with style during the town and Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural parade and July Jubilee.
The festival will start off with the parade line up at 8 a.m. on Fifth Avenue, with the parade itself beginning 9 a.m. sharp. Participants are free to ride alongside on bicycles, wagons, or vehicles, preferably if they’re patriotically decorated.
“Get out your marching shoes, dust off your uniforms and period costumes, tune up your instruments; decorate your bikes, trikes, and wagons; shine up your autos, trucks, and tractors,” the parade event description cited. “Join the parade and celebrate our independence.”
The chamber cited that dogs are allowed to walk in the parade as long as they are on a leash, but are not allowed in the park during the Jubilee unless they are a certified service dog.
The jubilee, beginning at 10 a.m. after the parade, is set to have food, games, music and vendors at the Town Park. The celebration, will have free admission and is set to end at 3 p.m.
There will be a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the recently-installed Kenbridge Farmers Market pavilion at noon during the jubilee.
