Andrea Shell, a former special education instructor at Kenbridge Elementary School (KES) and Gifted Education Coordinator at Nottoway County Public Schools, will soon be principal of KES, Shell and outgoing KES Principal Lucy Hall confirmed.

Shell said she worked with KES from 2007-2012 and is excited to return to the school.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to be back with my Lunenburg County Public School family,”

Shell said. “Lunenburg County is a wonderful place to be, work and raise a family. The community culture evident in the school system is unbeatable.”

Shell worked as a special education teacher at Park View High School from 2006-2007, and served as a special education teacher at Kenbridge Elementary School from 2007-2012 and Nottoway Middle School from 2012-2015. Shell went on to serve as the gifted teacher/coordinator for Nottoway County Public Schools from 2015-2018.

She said she has been drawn to the passion from Lunenburg County Public School instructors to bring a well-rounded education to its students.

“Kenbridge Elementary is filled with enthusiastic students willing to learn, supportive families interested in their children’s education and a dedicated professional staff committed to providing the students with the highest quality of education,” Shell said. “I’m looking forward to working with the dedicated team at Kenbridge Elementary to serve our students as they strive to reach their full academic potential.”

Hall, who was appointed KES principal in 2017, also served as KES assistant principal for two years and has worked in the school for 15 years. Hall has been hired by Lunenburg County Public Schools (LCPS) to be its Director of Data and Analysis School Information Systems Coordinator.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to work at Kenbridge Elementary for the past 15 years,” Hall said. “The school has some of the most dedicated and hard working teachers and staff members that I have ever encountered. I am thrilled with the progress our students have made over the last several years and feel that we are truly on the right track.”

“It was an extremely hard decision for me to accept the new position with LCPS, as KES has been my home since I came to Lunenburg,” Hall said. “I am however excited to take on this new role and to continue to learn and grow as an educator.”
