Lunenburg County Animal Control Officer Ray Elliott was honored by the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors during Thursday’s meeting for his advocacy and dedication in helping animals and pet owners in the county. A resolution presented to Elliott by the board cited his work in organizing the “Ruff-N-It” fundraiser, which exceeded its fundraising goals of $12,000 and $15,000 in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and for his work in an animal cruelty case with the state Office of Attorney General that resulted in three convictions at a Tyson breeder farm in 2017. Elliott thanked his family, Deputy Animal Control Officer Noyse King, the Lunenburg Animal Hospital and the area SPCA. Elliott accepted a certificate from the board while his family and friends stood in support.
