The Lunenburg County Planning Committee is set to hold a public hearing concerning a proposed solar facility at its meeting Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Lunenburg Courthouse.
The proposed solar facility would be located at 284 Hickory Road. The facility, according to a county notice, would incorporate “solar electrical panels and appurtenances.”
Commissioners, while considering the conditional use permit for the facility, would have to determine “if the project is in substantial accord with the Comprehensive Plan of Lunenburg County,” according to the public notice.
The meeting is also scheduled to include a work session that would discuss, define, add or modify several uses within the county’s zoning ordinance. These uses also have the potential to be included as conditional uses.
The uses in question include group homes, solar facilities and event venues.
The Kenbridge Town Council discussed the proposal during its December meeting, Town Manager Robyn Fowler said, but decided to table the matter in order to further consider the zoning aspect.
