Accident injures driver

The driver in a single-vehicle accident Thursday was transported to the hospital for serious injuries, according to police.
According to a release from Virginia State Police, the crash occurred Feb. 7 at 8:45 a.m. on Route 662/Nutbush Road, located less than a mile north of Route 679/Buckskin Road.
According to police, a 2014 Nissan Altima was traveling north on Route 662 when it ran off the right side of the highway as it came into a curve.
“The vehicle struck the ditch and overturned several times,” police said.
The driver, Hannah M. Capps, 22, of West Point, was transported for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
Capps was charged with reckless driving for failing to maintain control of her vehicle, police said.
