The third-seeded Central High School varsity softball team lost 6-0 to No. 2 Riverheads High School in the Region 1B tournament semifinals Thursday evening.
“We played well defensively but only had two hits in the game,” Lady Chargers Head Coach Karen McGrath said. “We did get on with a few errors by Riverheads but could not move our runners to score.”
She noted the Lady Gladiators recorded 11 hits for the game and benefited from outstanding play in the circle.
“Their pitcher struck out 14 and only walked one,” McGrath said.
To reach the semifinals, Central routed visiting No. 6 Cumberland County High School 16-3 in the first round of the regional tourney May 28.
The Lady Chargers finished the year with an overall record of 9-10.
