Kenston Forest School’s varsity football team traveled to John Paul II High School in North Carolina on Saturday for a scrimmage and returned with a 56-14 victory.

The game served as good preparation for the Kavaliers’ regular season opener, which comes earlier than most other schools in the area — Saturday. They will be visiting Lawrence Academy in Merry Hill, North Carolina.

The Kavs had a variety of standouts in this past Saturday’s victory.

Senior running back/ safety Jah’Tavious Houston ran for 106 yards and three touchdowns and recorded seven tackles.

Junior quarterback/ safety Moe’Wuante Morrison ran for 92 yards, threw for 32 and scored two touchdowns. He also registered five tackles.

Junior fullback/linebacker Quinton Hawkins ran for 112 yards and a touchdown and produced nine tackles and a forced fumble on defense.

Junior defensive and offensive lineman Thomas Inge recorded 12 tackles and a forced fumble.

“(He) also pancaked people and blocked very well, offensively,” Kenston Forest Head Coach Joseph Kaiser said.

Junior wide receiver/ defensive end/safety Ronique Capers had one receiving touchdown, he finished with eight tackles, and he also scored a touchdown off of a forced fumble by senior linebacker/offensive lineman Colton Carter.

Carter registered 10 tackles and a forced fumble on defense, and Kaiser added that Carter also blocked very well at the center position on offense.

Kickoff for Kenston Forest’s season opener Saturday is set for 11:30 a.m.
