Fly

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If there is one thing in the world I hate more than snakes, it’s a fly. The fly zooms around until you get a fly swatter to kill it then it disappears as if sensitive to movement.

One day, I was in the nail salon getting my nails pretty to go on vacation when my old arch enemy, the fly, showed up. It knew that my fingers were wet, so it kept buzzing around my head and getting into my hair. I tried shooing it away, but it kept getting closer and closer.

I told the young woman doing my nails that the fly was getting on my nerves and she signaled for someone to kill it or make it disappear. Guess what — my old enemy was watching. It saw the person approaching and flew away and stayed away until she stopped fanning. With a big smile it returned as if to say, “I’m here to stay and you can’t catch me because your fingers are wet. Catch me if you can!” I said to the fly, you stay where you are; my fingers will be dry soon and we will see who will survive.

Flies love to buzz around us, they have the whole room to roam, but somehow, they find their way to us. We ask the fly — why are you here? We do not enjoy your company, but the fly smiles and keep buzzing.

Mr. Fly, I have something waiting for you. I will try using honey to trap you, but you are so sensitive that you may discover it’s a trap.

I read in the Bible that Jesus made everything and that the fly and the snake have a purpose, but I hate them both and try to stay out of their way. Be blessed in Jesus’ name.
