Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Lunenburg County which resulted in life threatening injuries of a juvenile in addition to serious injuries of an adult who has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), said a representative for the department.
Trooper J.R. Davis is investigating the crash that occurred at 10:02 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, on Mays Road/Route 666, less than a mile south of Route 626, said Corinne N. Geller, the state police’s public relations director.
A 1986 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling north on Mays Road/Route 666, when it ran off the left side of the road, as it came into a curve, Geller said via email.
“The vehicle then crossed back over the road, ran off the right side of the highway, overturned and struck a tree,” the email continued.
The driver, Wesley E. Tucker Jr., 38 of Victoria, was transported to VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, Geller said.
A 6-year-old male passenger was ejected from the vehicle as it overturned across the roadway, she said.
The juvenile, whose name was not released, was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Geller said.
Tucker was arrested and charged with DUI, Geller said.
Geller said no additional information was available at the time.
