Adam Erby, left, pictured with his parents Merny, center, and Gordon Erby, of Victoria, will be guest speaker at the meeting of the Lunenburg County Historical Society on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ripberger Public Library in Kenbridge. Erby, assistant curator at Mount Vernon, will speak on George Washington’s landscape improvements at his home from 1784-1789. Erby, who holds degrees from the University of Virginia and the University of Delaware, has contributed significantly to several room-restoration projects at Mount Vernon and was the lead curator of the exhibition “Gardens & Groves: George Washington’s Landscape at Mount Vernon.”  His essays on that subject were published in the illustrated book, “The General in the Garden,” which will be available at the meeting for sale and signing. Those in attendance at the meeting will also have an opportunity to view the interesting collection of old newspapers on display at the library.
