A fire summoned firefighters to the Container First Services landfill Sunday evening.

The fire was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m., and units were on scene for about 45 minutes, said Rodney Newton, chief of the Victoria Fire and Rescue Department.

CFS personnel added more dirt to the cover to extinguish the fire, Newton said. CFS personnel also monitored the incident following extinguishment, he said.
