Jane Bohannon Pittenger, 77 of Reston, died on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Born in Richmond, on May 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Helen Redmond Bohannon.
Jane grew up in Lunenburg County. After graduating from Victoria High School in 1964, she attended Westhampton College graduating with a B.A. in English. Jane had a varied career including English teacher in Chesterfield County, Research Librarian in Baltimore County, Maryland and more recently Administrative Assistant for Fairfax County Public Schools.
Jane was a talented and creative individual who enjoyed the fiber arts, particularly needlework. She was a certified member of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America (EGA) and frequently volunteered her time to causes/organizations she believed in; being a fierce advocate for herself and her loved ones.
She is survived by her brother, Ray M. Bohannon of Ashland; her husband of 45 years, Donald Pittenger of Reston; three children, Michael Atkinson of Centreville, Elizabeth Sturgeon of Sterling and Ellen Pittenger of Richmond; as well as three grandchildren, William Sturgeon, Mia Sturgeon and Laina Darter.
The funeral service was held on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2:30 p.m. with the burial following at Lakeview Cemetery.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville was in charge of arrangements.
