The Ellinor G. Preston Coordinating Council of the Virginia State Organization of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently held its biennial Multi-Chapter Luncheon at the Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot. The Council is composed of 15 chapters in a wide territorial range that extends from north of Richmond through the metropolitan area surrounding the city and to the southwest to incorporate the counties of Brunswick and Lunenburg.
A primary purpose of the biennial gathering is for each chapter to honor its most outstanding member. Unanimously selected by the Delta Alpha Chapter as its honoree was Brenda Edwards-Wade of Kenbridge. Edwards-Wade is a veteran teacher with experience in both Lunenburg and Nottoway counties.
Blackstone resident Dr. Joy Hurt, Delta Alpha Chapter president, presented Edwards-Wade to the group by extolling her hard work as chapter treasurer, by which she keeps the chapter functioning in an organized and efficient manner. A Longwood University graduate, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 2014, treasurer of Delta Alpha since 2015, and former coordinating council secretary, she is passionate about exercising her craft of teaching.
In concluding her remarks about the honoree, Dr. Hurt said, “Brenda is a creative, resourceful, and hardworking person who gives her all to her chapter, her family, her school, and her community. She is a credit to the profession and a gift to Delta Alpha.”
