It’s time again to talk about a Lunenburg County Christmas. As the holiday season rolls in, we have events both here and in the nearby areas. And boy do we have quite a few of them to spotlight.
Throughout this month, there are festivals, parades, tree lighting events and other Christmas activities going on. And at a lot of the other events coming up, there are plenty of opportunities to find something for a person on your Christmas list. Here’s a look at the celebrations happening throughout the area.
DECEMBER 7
CREWE CHRISTMAS PARADE — The Town of Crewe will hold a Winter Wonderland Christmas Parade on Thursday, Dec. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. The parade will march down Main Street, with Christmas lights on display.
DECEMBER 8
CHRISTMAS AT THE BARN – Lunenburg Lavender, located at 1405 Fowlkes Road, will hold the first day of their Christmas at the Barn celebration, beginning at 11 a.m. and running to 4 p.m. There will be a Christmas market of different items to check out.
BLACKSTONE CHRISTMAS PARADE — The Town of Blackstone will hold their annual Christmas parade on Friday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. The event will start at Seay Park, located at 507 S. Main Street in Blackstone and end at Northwest Ace Hardware, located at 110 Inge Street. This year’s theme is The Night Before Christmas and there will be awards given out for best performance and best floats.
DECEMBER 9-10
HOLIDAY HERITAGE HOUSE TOUR — The home of Robert and Diana Clement, located at 2421 6th St. in Victoria, will be open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $10 and you get a tour of the historic house, a log cabin on the grounds and the rest of the property. The event is sponsored by the Lunenburg County Historical Society.

VICTORIA SMALL TOWN CHRISTMAS – The Lunenburg County Christmas continues, with activities happening at different locations in town, starting with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus to BLISS of Lunenburg, located at 1806 Main Street. They will be at the building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then there will be free crafts for kids at Sweet Magnolia, 1700 Main Street, running from 10 a.m. to noon. Caroling also starts up at Sweet Magnolia, beginning at 11 a.m. The Christmas market will start at 11 a.m. outside of La Victoria Mexican Restaurant, located at 1812 Main Street.
CHRISTMAS AT THE BARN – A second day of Christmas at the Barn starts off at 10 a.m. at Lunenburg Lavender, located at 1405 Fowlkes Road. There will be a Christmas market of different items to check out.
CHRISTMAS COUNTRY STYLE — The Kenbridge Auditorium, located at 511 E. 5th Avenue in Kenbridge, will host a Country Christmas variety show on Saturday, Dec. 9, full of local talent and musical group First Go Round. The event begins at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased on First Go Round’s Facebook page.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT — The Commonwealth Chorale of Virginia will present its annual Christmas concert featuring something for everyone — from Handel’s ‘Messiah’ to Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas.” The second concert will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Crewe United Methodist Church. That’s located at 607 E. Georgia Street in Crewe. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and is free.
DECEMBER 16
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PARTY — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will hold a Community Christmas Party with Christmas Trivia, prizes for the ugliest sweater and music from Nick Byrd on Saturday, Dec. 16. Music begins at 7 p.m.
DECEMBER 23
CHRISTMAS DINNER — The Victoria Church of the Nazarene will hold a community Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 23. The meal starts at 6 p.m. at the church, located at 1404 Sixth Street in Victoria. People are asked to come in the side door, across from the post office. Santa and his elves will be there, giving out toys for the children. It’ll be first come, first served until things run out. DECEMBER 24
CHRISTMAS EVE BY CANDLELIGHT – On Sunday, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m., Victoria Christian Church will hold a candlelight service where you can sing carols and hear the beloved Christmas story that proclaims Jesus as the Light of the World.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE – Kenbridge Christian Church, located at 519 S. Broad Street in Kenbridge, will hold their annual Christmas Eve service in the church auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
