Rites held for Melvin ‘Piedmont’ Caudle

Melvin “Piedmont” Roger Caudle, 68, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center Charlotte.

He was born in Green   Bay, VA, on October 6,  1947 to the late Mack and Eula Smith Caudle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee Roy and Raymond Caudle.

He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from US Airways. Piedmont was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and garden. He enjoyed cooking and was a loving and caring father who was stern but loved his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Whittaker Caudle; children, Kimberly Griffith (Stephen) and Stacy Caudle all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Tayler, Piper, Tanner and Ian; sisters; Helen Ballou, Rose Wray, Shirley Hicks, Annie Caudle, Thelma Wilmoth, Peggy Bentley, Geneva Orange.

Celebration of life service will be held on July 16 at the VFW Hall in Victoria, VA.
