George Franklin Hall, of Kenbridge, will appear for a bond hearing Wednesday at 9 a.m. in connection with a single charge of grand larceny, auto. Hall, whom Kenbridge Police Chief Raymond Hite described as being in his late 50s or early 60s, allegedly stole the car on Aug. 5.

“Officer Aaron Peter got a call on North Broad Street for a stolen car,” Hite said. “Officer Peter spoke to the complainant and put out a BOL (be on the lookout).”

A few minutes later, Hite said, a Blackstone police officer pulled over a car fitting the description and found Hall inside.

“He was then taken into custody, taken before a judge and charged,” Hite said.

He said Hall has been held at Piedmont Regional jail until Wednesday’s bond hearing.

Hite said Hall was living at an assisted living home about 1/4- to 1/2-mile away from where he stole the car.

“The key was left in the car,” Hite said.

Hall’s trial is set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 26.
