Though bad weather postponed the 36th annual Autumn Days from last week to this Saturday, it’s still chock-full of events and activities for the community, celebrating the heritage, people and places of Victoria and the surrounding area.

“We ended up getting over 5 inches of rain, so I’m glad we did postpone it,” said Victoria Town Manager Rodney Newton.

The event, which will take place at Railroad Park in downtown Victoria, will feature music, food, games, sales, a 5K race and much more.

While the event kicks off at 10 a.m., the Teresa Matthews 5K begins at 8 a.m. The ribbon cutting for the park’s new kiosk, which will showcase the history of Victoria, takes place at 11 a.m.

The event, according to the town’s website and Newton, will feature a band from Crewe with other local talent, a rock wall and other activities for children, amusement park rides, food, including funnel cakes, yard sales, a flea market and a truck-and-tractor pull.

The Queens’ Knights will sponsor a horseshoe tournament, and the Pet Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. behind the firehouse, according to the website.

The old Victoria High School, Newton said, will be open for tours and will showcase a photography display featuring Lunenburg County native Robby Batte, of ShutterBatte Photography.

Parking is available throughout town, Newton said.

The event brings many people to the town from within and outside of Lunenburg County.
