The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors will review and potentially take action on two bond measures Thursday.

According to County Administrator Tracy Gee, the first matter concerns a lease revenue bond for upgrades to the county courthouse. This would include a request for proposal review.

The second bond matter is the potential refinancing of general obligation series bonds for Lunenburg County Public Schools.

“(It would) save interest and avoid a $1.8 million balloon payment,” Gee explained in an email.

Gee will also provide an update to the board on its resolution to join the proposed Piedmont Regional Jail Authority. She said new language concerning an upcoming booking area is being inserted into the resolution.

In other business, the board will hear reports about an “animal friendly” license plate and sheriff’s department vehicle surplus. It will also consider a resolution congratulating the Lunenburg Middle School Academic Competition for Excellence (ACE) team. The board is also scheduled to hear reports from the Lunenburg County School Board and Virginia Department of Transportation.

Thursday’s meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Lunenburg Courts Building and is open to the public.
