Betty Ramsey has been named publisher of The Kenbridge-Victoria Dispatch and its digital products effective Jan. 1.
Ramsey, a veteran newspaper leader, comes to Southside Virginia from Tryon, N.C., where she has served as president and publisher of the Tryon Daily Bulletin since 2010. Previously, Ramsey served as advertising director of The Tidewater News in Franklin.
“Betty is uniquely qualified to lead our growing community media company,” said Steve Stewart, president of Farmville Newsmedia LLC, which purchased The Dispatch last year. “Betty and I worked together for several years at The Tidewater News, and I have seen first-hand her ability to lead a team of newspaper professionals, make products better, and help small businesses grow through effective print and digital marketing solutions.”
Ramsey has more than 27 years of experience in media sales, marketing, and newspaper and magazine publishing. Tryon Newsmedia, which Ramsey has led for the past six years, publishes a daily newspaper, two magazines and related websites.
Together, she and her husband, Gary, have six children, including Hampden-Sydney College freshman Garrett Ramsey, and 13 grandchildren.
She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, gardening, fishing and going to the beach.
