Varsity Lady Chargers to enter ’17 on win streak

The Central High School varsity girls basketball team closed out the 2016 portion of its schedule with victories over visiting Bluestone High School and host William Campbell High School.
“It was good to get back in the win column and be able to go on break with a little winning streak,” Lady Chargers Head Coach Scott Wilson said.
Bluestone fell 36-34 to Central on Thursday, as the Lady Chargers led throughout.
Central senior center/forward Bri’Anna Johnson scored half of her team-high 16 points in the final period. She also had 11 rebounds in the game. Senior forward/guard Dominique Turman-Watson supplied eight points and 17 rebounds, including 13 on defense, helping limit the Lady Barons to one shot.
On Wednesday, the Lady Chargers defeated William Campbell, using a 15-2 run in the final six minutes of the game to win 59-51.
Johnson was again dominant, pouring in 18 points and 21 rebounds. Turman-Watson contributed 15 points and nine boards, and senior guard Brittany Dolan added 11 points.
Central (4-2) returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. at Goochland High School.
