It’s evident that kindness matters to students at Central High School. (CHS).

Last weekend, students from CHS’ Kindness Matters Club spent hours at the Farmville-Area Habitat for Humanity’s’ ReStore and working on a home rehabilitation project in Charlotte County.

We commend the students and staff from CHS who participated for embarking on such a worthy venture.

“It (was) started to prevent bullying at school and to work on some of that,” said club co-sponsor Jessica Watson regarding Kindness Matters. “They have taken on several service projects, mostly in the school right now … I think the kids were excited to do something different and give back to the community some,” she said of students volunteering in Farmville and Charlotte County.

At the ReStore, students washed dishes, mixed paint, placed items on shelves, straightened up books and the movie room and priced items. At the rehab project, students painted and performed other tasks, preparing the home for a future Habitat family.

It’s vital young people learn that giving back to their community and others in the Heart of Virginia proves beneficial, and reaps benefits that will return to them 10 fold. Activities such as the ones CHS students performed are great examples.

We commend the students for spreading kindness to strangers through the ReStore and the Habitat rehabilitation project in Charlotte County.
