CANDIDATES MEET AND GREET, 6-8 p.m., at the Victoria Restaurant. Light refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Lunenburg Democratic Party.

APRIL 22

BENEFIT MOTORCYCLE RIDE, 9 a.m. to benefit the Burkeville Lodge for the Blind. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the Burkeville Lodge, 341 Oak St., Burkeville. Ride begins at 10 a.m. Day includes 145-mile scenic ride to Lovingston, lunch at the Burkeville Lodge and drawings. Route details will be handed out the morning of the ride. Cost is $20 per rider, includes lunch, $10 per passenger with lunch. Contact Harold Wagstaff at (434) 603-1433.

GOSPEL SING, 4 p.m. at the People’s Community Center sponsored by the Lunenburg NAACP Branch. Appearing will be The Blackstone Community Chorus, the Rev. Marvin Harris and Inner Peace, The Harmonizing Echoes, Friendship Church male chorus and more. Admission is free. All are welcome.

GOSPEL EXPLOSION, 3 p.m. of the Lunenburg County Branch of NAACP at the People’s Community Center, 1021 Tidewater Ave., Victoria. There will be many groups and choirs appearing on the program. Everyone is encouraged to come out and make the program a success.

CLASSICAL GUITAR ENSEMBLE FROM VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY will make a special guest appearance at 4 p.m. at the Kenbridge Community Center Auditorium. Solo by VCU graduate Ashby Pernell. Free to the public.

NEW GROVE BAPTIST, 11 a.m. will be honoring First Lady Mrs. Freda Pullen Bagley during the regular morning worship service. Dinner will be served following the worship service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

ANNUAL YOUTH DAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Grace Barr from Spring Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone, will be the guest speaker and Reed Rock Youth Choir, Jetersville, will be the guest choir. All are invited to attend.

29TH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Pleasant Oak Baptist Church Inspirational Choir. Guest will be The Gospel StarLights of Crewe, Brother Lonnie Gallion, of Richmond, and The GospelTeers, of Amherst. The worship leader will be sister Roxanne Logan. Refreshments will be served after the program. All are welcome.

APRIL 27

CANNING WORKSHOP, 6-8 p.m. sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Southern Piedmont AREC, 2375 Darvills Road, Blackstone. Class topics include the science of canning, canning recipes, storage of canned goods and how to can with a pressure, hot water bath and steam canners. Canning equipment will be on display and used as various methods are discussed. Registered participants will receive a bound copy of the USDA Guide to Home Canning.
