Rites Held For Larry Junior Hardy

Larry Junior Hardy, son of the late Naomi Lane Hardy, was born on December 4, 1951 at Queens General Hospital, Queens, New York.

He was educated in Lunenburg County Public Schools. He was baptized at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Kenbridge. He enjoyed auto body repair work, and was employed as a welder at American Buildings Company, South Hill. Most of all he was a simple man who enjoyed gardening, fishing, family, and friends.

He was raised from an infant by his maternal aunt, Luvenia Lang Smithson, and her husband, Joe Smithson. He was one of five children, of whom two preceded him in death Mildred Hardy and Carl Smithson.

He leaves to cherish his memory six children, Patricia Godette, Tyo Godette, (Andrea Godette), Orlando Godette, Larry Godette, (Valerie Godette), Tiffany Hardy, Crystal Heard, (Janet Knight); 17 grandchildren, four sisters, Shirley Thomas, (Roland Thomas), New Jersey, Donna Thomas, Manassas, Mattie Hawkins, and, Carolyn Smithson, of Victoria, brother, Gary Morgan, Brooklyn, New York, sister-in-law, (Cassie Smithson), Petersburg; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; a long-time friend Kathy Cheatham; two “special dogs,” Big Boy, and Lady, and a special thank you to Debra (Lynn Hurt).

A funeral service was held May 13, 2017 at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Victoria.
